History Of Williamson River Ranch

The Williamson River Established in 1965

Sylvan and Barbara spent their early years on a Ranch in Vale, Oregon. Barbara read an ad in the Western Horseman magazine advertising a Ranch for sale in Eagle, Idaho. They were attracted to the claim of abundant water and when they saw it, Sylvan was sold. Ditches full of clear water. It had 8th water right on the Boise River. Eagle Island was known for its artisan wells. They Purchased the 400 acre Williamson Ranch in 1965. Eagle was unincorporated with a population of approximately 400.

The Ranch was homesteaded in 1865. Interesting artifacts have been found such as old workhorse shoes, farm implements, and antique wire fences. The Ranch has primarily been a registered performance quarter horse breeding and training facility but has also raised cattle. At one point Williamson River Ranch raised registered Charolais cattle. Toby and Linda Williamson continue to operate this breeding and training facility.
